  • NIH Public Access Policy: Monitoring Compliance

This guide provides support for complying with the NIH Public Access Policy.

For Researchers - My Bibliography for Public Access Compliance

This video describes the use of the My Bibliography feature of My NCBI for monitoring compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy.  My Bibliography allows researchers to view the compliance status of their publications and link funding sources to citations.

For a general introduction to My Bibliography, please see the video on the "Prior to Publication" page of this guide.

Link your My NCBI Account to Your eRA Commons Account

    Log into My NCBI.

Click on your login name on the top right.

    Click Change under Linked Accounts.

From the list of Login Account Options, Choose NIH & eRA Commons, and then log in to your eRA Commons account.

Browse the NIH's eRA Commons page for more information.

A My NCBI Account linked to an eRA Commons account can be used to view references, confirm compliance, and add or delete awards.

    Contacts for Help

The Welch Medical Library Informationists are always available to answer your questions related to compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy.  Use the Informationist Program webpage to find the informationist assigned to your department or affiliation.

You may also wish to contact the NIHMS Help Desk directly with questions specifically related to the NIH Manuscript Submission System.

If you have general questions about the NIH Public Access Policy, you can also visit this contact page.

For Administrators - The NIH Public Access Policy Compliance Monitor

The following video outlines the use of the NIH Public Access Policy Compliance Monitor for institutional tracking of publications that must meet the requirements outlined in the NIH Public Access Policy.

Access to the Monitor is limited to those with a Public Access Compliance Role (PACR).

More details about using the Monitor are available from its User Guide.
