PsycINFO is a database which contains more than one million citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations and technical reports, all in the field of psychology. It also includes information about the psychological aspects of related disciplines such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business and law.
Your assignment only requires 3 databases. If your topic covers a subject that is psychiatric focused (depression, mental health, etc), you may want to consider searching PsycINFO instead of one of the other databases.
Go to PsycINFO and click on the link for Subjects Authority on the left (under "Research tools"). Subjects Authority is the controlled vocabulary for APA PsycINFO and can be searched like MeSH. Paste the MeSH terms from your PubMed search into Subjects Authority (minus the quotation marks and field tags) to find the PsycINFO equivalents.
Click on the left-hand check box to include the term in your search. If available, click the checkbox in the "Explode" column to include the more narrow terms under the Subject Heading term. Then click "Add to search".
If you are adding multiple Subject Authority terms, make sure to "Add to search" each term before searching a new one.
