The Scholarly Publishing Symposium, held on the Hopkins East Baltimore campus on November 9, 2016, was organized by Elsevier, the Office of Faculty Development, the Professional Development and Career Office, and the Welch Medical Library. Presenters included Elsevier publishers and Johns Hopkins faculty editors.
The morning panel presentation outlined author rights, explored ethical issues in publishing, and offered strategies on how best to position manuscripts for acceptance. The afternoon session highlighted market trends, open access, open science, and other aspects of publishing. The day ended with break-out sessions which specifically addressed biomedical, nursing, biomedical engineering, and public health audiences.
