Data Visualizations

Overview

The visualizations and representations found here were created to provide researchers, staff, students, and faculty with a snapshot of early mobility in critical care literature in multiple databases through June, 2020. The literature visualized comes from a search strategy created by Welch Medical Library Informationist Carrie Price. The searches were run on June 10, 2020.

Visualization and Data Cleaning Methods

These visuals were created using several different software programs, including Excel to prepare the data, and Tableau and VOSviewer to visualize the data. PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science results were pulled in RIS, XML, and CSV formats.

Limitations

Results were only pulled from PubMed, Scopus, and the Web of Science. The datasets used to create these visuals are not a fully comprehensive representation of the existing published literature due to variations in database coverage. In addition, the results only reflect the literature up until June 10, 2020, so the number of publications and citations will continue to grow. Links may pull search results which are higher in number than what is indicated within the visualizations.

Carrie Price, the informationist responsible for these visualizations, works at Johns Hopkins but did not make any effort to represent Johns Hopkins or Johns Hopkins authors over other institutions or authors.
